Everything Essential

It's been 5 weeks since I drove to a job for work and 5 weeks since the pandemic COVID-19 rocked the ENTIRE world. And while everyone is in the same boat not everyone is feeling the turbulence the same way. For me, most of my weight and or anxiety is related to emotional state more than basic needs like food, shelter and water... while I do think, when will I be able to go back to work. I am single mom who needs to take care of my child and pay bills plus I love my job. If it weren't for the kindness of one person things would be different... It's crazy how just one variable can be such a game changer. Like for some of us, having a job one moment to not having one in the next and for others it's the fact they can go to work healthy and come home completely different.

I will be honest, when I heard the people talking about jobs and people being "essential" vs "non essential", it had me feeling some sort of way especially since my job and role was considered to be "non essential". It had me wonder. How am I essential? How am I indispensable to this world? Do I deem myself essential? Have I proven myself essential? What is essential?

Essential is described as absolutely necessary; extremely important, key, vital, required.

In a world where we value status over importance it is important for us to know that EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THIS PLANET HAS SOMETHING SPECIAL TO ADD TO ANOTHER. SOMETHING OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE.

I had 3 explanatory reasons as to why all this could be happening. If not reasons, definitely things worth thinking about:

One of them being a time for us to connect back to God and yourself. I believe that a lot of people have been out of touch with themselves and have been getting through life and not living life. God wants us all the live abundant lives and that looks different to everyone but once you know you know. It just flows... there's joy and peace that comes with living in your flow and living your best life... And there are many who aren't. Which kind of connects to the next reason I have...TIME. We now have that time to be MINDFUL....to slow down. The time to find our passions and PRACTICE breaking out of old bad habits and create new ones. One example of this may be to workout more, eat healthier, write more... all these things help your mind work at a greater capacity. The mind creates, in analyzes and problem solves, its the computer/operating system to our body which is meant to produce WORK AND ACTION. Even some things that are common sense or things we know to do that we just don't do because of the excuse of time. WE NOW HAVE THE TIME. Time is the most essential commodity that we as humanity seem to take advantage of and sometimes waste. The time is NOW...so cliché but so true. There is no time like the present and no time like this where we especially as adults are being forced to slow down and take a break. Which is so interesting because I know that many people are more anxious than ever and even when this time its still a task to be STILL.

BE STILL AND KNOW.... Know thyself, know that God is in control and KNOW that we can get through this...together.

The last thought is something that is a little out there but it was definitely something that came to mind and had been on my mind before all of this jumped off. That is survival of the fittest. Even typing it, it may sound a bit insensitive but like I said it was something that came to mind. (Side note: Remember WE ARE NOT OUR THOUGHTS, WE ARE OUR ACTIONS. So there is no need to JUDGE your thoughts or thoughts of another but rather CONSIDER the actions ). I have a whole lot to say on the matter but what it really comes down to is the work, God has given us all a chance to put in the work to get stronger in this difficult time and its up to us to put in the WORK. For some the work may be spiritual, for others it may be financial, for others it may be emotional and mental- it really all goes hand in hand put just like with anything that is lacking in our lives it take discipline, balance and EFFORT to reach our goals. I hope no one takes survival of the fittest to mean those that are weak are the ones who got the coronavirus and are the ones suffering or anything like that... but this has definitely been a wake up call for a lot of us and its time to stretch those "muscles" and get strong in order to survive this and ultimately, going back to point one, living the lives God has intended all of us to have.

I know at times I can get a little heavy but this is heavy stuff and heavy times and we have to be strong enough to carry it BUT NOT ALONE..Together.

As people, as humanity, WE are ALL ESSENTIAL. It is US that makes the world go round; with our LOVE, compassion, fight and HOPE.

UNITY AND TOGETHERNESS is ESSENTIAL

No one should have to go through this alone. So I hope and pray that everyone grabs a hold on that which is truly essential like family, love, self worth, creativity, truth and EMBRACE that in this time and KNOW that no matter what the government has deemed as essential and not, we ALL MATTER and have MAJOR, VITAL roles to play in making this world a better place.

With Love,

Mubinah
