Another Rainy Day

Moving from California to living in Texas, the weather change has been outrageous. One day its sunny and beautiful then the next day ( or even the same day) , its rainy cats and dogs with the a thunderstorm advisory. Temperatures get so low here that some days it has even been too cold to go outside to the park and play. On days like that, I try my best to ensure that we make the most of the time in the house without watching too much tv or too many movies. Since there had been so many rainy days since moving here, I was running out of things to do. Books, puzzles and coloring weren't having the same responses as they used to. Along with being a busy body, I am coming to appreciate those times when I am forced to slow down and be creative. So thank you Texas... On one rainy day recently, I was in work mode while my daughter was "watching" a movie...or the movie was watching her. She had become bored with it so she started to play multiple things at one time (something I must admit bothers me, that's another topic..). I took that as a sign to find something creative for her to do. We had already colored for the day, and I wanted find something different to do outside of the usual indoor norms. The thought had hit me that we still hadn't opened the finger paint I bought as party favors for her birthday....PERFECT!! It was messy but she loved it. Some other ideas I have done-not necessarily for a rainy day but something fun- is to make your own paint, build nebulas, or any nifty craft. You can never go wrong with paint.
